I'm a real fan of Micheal Angarano. When LAPD computer expert Peter Fowler investigates the killing of an old man in Chinatown, he finds the only witness is his dog, Cho Cho. Gotham Reads is bringing the adventure to them - with books. An extordinary orphan boy changes the lives of a variety of people as he searches for a home. The parts of the movie that did go by the chapter didn't exactly go by the chapter, like when he was untying Cobble's Knot, they left out the part when he had to rest on a desk for about 10-20 minutes (I don't remember, don't get on my case) and they replaced it with...him getting inside the humongous knot. The Dust Factory is an adventure about the love and friendship between two teenagers who help each other through a difficult time in their lives. Was this review helpful? Re-watch the movie and really understand it. He comes to a small town which, although divided by racism, is populated by colorful/comical characters. The beans aren't anywhere in the book, the word beans I doubt is even in there. As he searches for his place in the world, Maniac changes the people around him, espcially the other children. The maniac Magee book is one of the greatest books ever created and I was exited for the movie. 0 out of 0 found this helpful. But they forgot some things. Four young boys find a shipwrecked Japanese sailor during World War II and struggle with the decision to save him. I'll have to take their word for it, because this was based on a kids' book written by Jerry Spinelli in 1991, long after my childhood was over. He wasn't crazy, he was just like everyone else, convinced that black people are enemies. I give it a 7/10. Was this review helpful?

Hes a very talented actor.

Jeffrey "Maniac" Magee was orphaned as a baby, but nothing gets him down. I think its an amazing movie and book!

What happened to Grayson? If you are looking to laugh at a film or compare it angrily to the book, then this is for you. But, they could have mentiod his alergy to pizza. You can't hate the movie because it don't live up to the book it's adapting from.

But overall, it's still a good movie and you need to see it whether you read the book or not, it's still a good movie.

Now, creating the book in an hour and a half timeslot is hard. I still can't understand why people hate that. Was this review helpful to you?

1 out of 10 I read this book in the 6th grade and thought that this would be as good as the book.

Even though a movie based on a book won't exactly reenact the book itself, this movie was missing a lot.

They never even mention Grayson, who was in about 1/3 of the book. Anybody who doesn't like this movie should think about their comment some more. The Maniac Magee book was actually pretty good, but they ruined it with the movie. For example, while Maniac is running, all you see is a slur.In the book, he is just a fast funnier, but in the movie they basically turned him into a … It is really just cheesy Nickelodeon trash. It took out a lot of stuff! I have to give it to our main actors and actresses, they can really set this movie to the next level. The story follows twelve-year-old Jeffrey Lionel "Maniac" Magee, an orphaned runaway with many extraordinary and athletic talents, who arrives in a town divided with racial conflict. Anyway, the movie is good. Half-hour sitcom about a woman and her frantic life with men (her husband and four sons).
