People who bought Just Good Friends: Series 1 and 2 also bought All fourteen episodes from the first two seasons of the comedy series about the problematic relationship between Vince (Paul Nicholas), an East End bookmaker, and Penny Warrender (Jan Francis), an upmarket girl from Chipping Ongar. Newly restored by the BBC and available for the first time in its entirety including the long unseen 1984 Christmas special John Sullivan's classic sit-com is still as endearing and enjoyable as when it first aired. Don't know what happened to Jan Francis though. Jan Frances, as Penny, is superb, whilst perhaps the funniest moments are the interactions between Penny's snooty, interfering mother and Vince and members of his family, who come from a working class background but have made a lot of money in the scrap metal trade and are now probably wealthier than Penny's middle class parents. Paul Nicholas and Jan Francis are outstanding in their roles as Vince the cockney, unreliable, Jack-the-lad with a witty one-liner for every occasion and Penny the posh, prim and proper lady. Written by John Sullivan of "Only Fools and Horses" fame, this programme is less remembered these days, but is equally well written and funny. There are certain similarities between Vince, the central male character, and Del Boy - both loveable rogue types - and the witty Sullivan humour is consistent throughout both programmes.
